About the Author
Pam Lacko, a 58 year resident of Connecticut, resided in Simsbury with her husband Jeff, two children Rebecca and Mathew and their two golden retrievers until 2019. Pam was 47 when she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and started a blog to record her experiences with surgeries, treatments and the emotional affects of her diagnosis. Although her initial intent was to utilize the blog for keeping her clients and friends informed of her progress, it became a focus of her healing and now a book containing actual events from her perspective – humor.
Pam runs a computer consulting business in Connecticut and now in Florida, retired from teaching percussion to children in town and still donates her spare time to helping other cancer patients in Connecticut and Florida. Pam had a recurrence of her cancer in 2014 and employed the numerous tips she had documented in her book and is now adding to those handy tips on her website.
Pam also wrote the article, “Prescription: Humor” for the International Journal for Healing and Caring. She hopes that one day anyone going through a significant medical event such as cancer can read this book and find something to smile about.
As of October 2019, Pam and her husband Jeff sold their home in Simsbury and moved into their dream home in Palm Coast, Florida where they enjoy golf, boating, fishing and each other. Pam is traveling back to Connecticut annually and continues to volunteer at Cut out Cancer, an organization that pampers those being treated for cancer, at Milano Day Spa in Bloomfield, CT. She hopes to continue “paying it forward” using her experiences in her cancer journey to help others.
