Calling all cooks…

I’ve finished 3 of 18 treatments as of this weekend and am placing a “shout out” for some recipes. After my first 6 treatments of carboplatin in 2008, I was left with a magnesium deficiency which I manage with daily magnesium oxide and another pill which fools my kidneys into reabsorbing the mag. Last week I had my blood drawn (which I now do weekly to make sure all is ok for chemo), and my magnesium had dropped significantly. So they gave me 4 bags of mag while I was getting my weekly chemotherapy.

Here’s what I’m asking. There are several foods that are high in magnesium and I would love some recipes from anyone out there who knows that I am a basic cook but can follow directions to a T. Here are the foods that are rich in mag…

boiled spinach
quinoa
brown rice
kidney beans
lentils
raisin bran
shredded wheat
oatmeal
whole wheat bread
bananas

This will be much better than getting bags of this infused every week. Doesn’t taste as good!
