I am sitting here with my friend Jeanne, a former hematology/oncology nurse, which is so helpful as my chemo nurses are telling me about my new treatment of Cisplatin. This new drug (for me) will require a tremendous amount of hydration which will come in the form of a Saline bag before and after, each bag taking two hours to drip into me. Needless to say, it will be a long day.
My nurse came over and presented me with my new hat. Had one of these years ago when I was hospitalized. It looks like a bad lamp shade upside down, or a pilgrim’s hat. But when you turn it over, it has lines with measurements inside it. Not a hat size, but to measure the amount of urine you are dispensing. So I have an additional job here during my drips…to take my hat with me to pee and report to the nurse afterwards.
